About Man of the House

Funnyman Chevy Chase (NATIONAL LAMPOON'S VACATION, CADDYSHACK) is Jack, a guy who's found the woman of his dreams (glamorous Farrah Fawcett). Too bad her stubborn 11-year-old son, Ben (Jonathan Taylor Thomas from TV's HOME IMPROVEMENT) thinks Jack is a geek! As a test, Ben coaxes Jack into joining the YMCA Indian Guides, led by a wacky suburban dad (George Wendt, Norm from TV's CHEERS). Chaos ensues as Jack struggles to prove to Ben that he's not totally uncool! From rain dancing to building a teepee, Jack will do anything to win Ben's approval -- and his mom's affection!

If you do not know about this movie, then you are about to be served with a treat unlike any treat you have ever received.

It stars Chevy Chase, who IMHO has just gotten funnier over the years, and Jonathan Taylor Thomas (the star of Home Improvement) as nutty people saying the zaniest things. Disney scores another home run with Man of the House, and the comedy grabs you by the throat from the very first scene and never loosens its grip.

If you've never seen any Chevy Chase movies (and what's wrong with you, if so?!) then this is definitely the one to see. He is very, very sarcastic which is my sense of humor too, and he has some of the funniest faces and zingers that you'd ever want to see/hear. But he has definitely met his match with the kid from Home Improvement, who delivers wisecracks like kids always do. This kid is definitely going places and is by far my favorite person from Home Improvement, except for maybe Tim Allen and Wilson the neighbor.

Farrah Fawcett has never been more gorgeous and whimsical as she is in Man of the House, and what's so funny is that Chevy Chase wants to marry her, but the kid really doesn't want him too. So it's a lot like Home Alone, except instead of people wanting to burgle the home, this kid wants to keep the intruder (Chevy Chase, "Oh Heavenly Dog") away from his mom. And we can all relate to wanting to keep people away from Farrah Fawcett, so it's a comedy that makes you think.

This movie is probably going to make one of your top 10 lists, and it's so funny at times that you might need to excuse yourself from the room. But remember to pause lest you miss more great jokes and joke premises!

Man of the House? More like Comedy of the Year?!!!

This is movie boring and stupid. Jonathan Taylor Thomas is a brat. I'm not going to get into full detail of why I don't like it for 2 reasons: 1. It's been 12 years since I've seen it and 2. It sucked so much that I don't want to remember it detail for detail. But the premise is a single guy (Chevy Chase) who meets a woman (Farrah Fawcett) who is single with a kid (Thomas). The kid wants to totally sabotage the engagement of the man to his mother. Dumb movie and dumb title. Despite Chevy Chase's character living with Farrah Fawcett's character, he is not man of the house because he is not married to her. So technically she runs the house. I like the other Man Of The House movie better with Tommy Lee Jones. A totally different movie but at least the title seems relevant compared to this movie and the latter is a more enjoyable movie to watch compared to this dreck. Hence the name of this review. This movie is a boring and pointless movie that should be locked in The Disney vault and never released again! October 25, 2007

Typical Chevy Chase vehicle but still enjoyable. Farrah Fawcett looks too old to play a young mom. Good movie to watch with your Grand children on a rainy afternoon. September 28, 2007

Ps We'd Give It -0 Stars! For Children Based Native Movies Stay Away From Indian In The Cupboard (The Title Alone Should Make You Want To Stay Away) Disney's Pokahontas I And II And Disneys Peter Pan (For Its Native Scenes And Songs Such As "what Makes The Red Man Red") Disneys Tom And Huck (For The Character Injun Jo Who Plays The Villain) Their Just As Bad If Not Worse It's A Shame Because Native American Themed Movies Have So Much Potential To Break Those Stereotypical Borders September 24, 2006

When you realize that this DVD features both Chevy Chase and Farrah Fawcett, you are instantly suspicious since neither have made a good film in a long time since Fletch. However, add Jonathan Taylor Thomas and the three make a believable modern-day family thrown into turmoil over Jonathan Taylor Thomas' dislike of anyone trying to win his mom's (Farrah Fawcett's) love.

When the mobsters show up chasing after Chevy Chases character, the film comes into it's fullness and makes for a great movie with a satisfying ending. March 24, 2006
